By the end of the war in 1763, it essentially solidified British control of the American colonies, while also leaving huge financial costs of the war effort on the British government. These costs led the British government to levy additional taxes on the American colonists (eg. stamp tax, tea tax) that were unpopular and led to a growing backlash against British control. Of course by 1776 this broke out into full rebellion and the declaration of independence for America.
