Diego, they asked “how much did Tex save?” “Saved” means that he paid less on sale than he would have paid at regular price.
So what you want to do is ask yourself three questions:
1) how much did all 20 tapes cost before the sale?
2) how much did he pay, on sale
3) how much less did he pay?
For question 1), there were 20 tapes at $9 each, so they cost
20 * $9. How much is that?
For question 2), there were 20 tapes, but for every pair of 2 tapes, he only paid $12.50. So, how many pairs were there? 20 / 2 = 10 pairs. So he paid
10 * $12.50. How much is that?
For question 3), subtract the answer for question 2 from the answer for question 1. How much is that?
