Odds of 2 goals matching

Dave has a career of 11257 goals. Of that 722 are long goals and 1666 are overtime goals. What are the odds that one of his overtime goals is also a long goal?

Hi Matt! This is an "and" question (what is the probability that the goal is an overtime AND a long goal). In probability "and" always means multiply:


Probability of Overtime and Long = Probability of Overtime * Probability of Long

= 722/11257 * 1666/11257

= .0095
