Geographic Information Systems (GIS): It's A Whole New Challenge
ESRI diversified from user levels to user types to meet the growing demand of different user capabilities and apps. If the individual user only wants to focus on Editor, Field Worker and GIS Professilnal, then they can restrict what they want to use or add on these additional app uses. ESRI is steering users to develop app uses, rather than one broad level use. Is it more expensive? This answer depends on what use a person wants to apply and probably how many applications are applied. Like all software, ESRI is trying diversify to meet different demands.
