GIS uses two types of data models. Raster and vector. Line, point and polygon are the three types of vector data model can be represented. Line has a start and an end point. Polygon is a closed line and will have area and perimeter. point is represented by x and y coordinate. Raster is represented by a matrix of cells called pixels.
