gravity is a function of mass. To get the total gravitional force on an irregular object, you can divide it into small pieces and add up the force on each piece. Also, look up the term "center of mass". This is the location in an object where a point mass could be placed and have the same gravitational force. For a symmetrical object--eg a sphere--the center of mass is at the center.
