if i have a five foot string and need to cut it into 1/3 of a foot . How many pieces of string can i cut?

Okay. 1 foot is 12 inches,so 1/3 foot is what in inches? So 1/3 of 12 inches is what?

12 x 1/3= 4 inches.

you have 5 ft of string which equals how many inches? 5 ft x 12 inches= 60 inches.

How many pieces? 60 inches/4 inches= 15 pieces.

Or the easy way--3 pieces of string per foot..have 5 feet of string--3 x 5=15 pieces.
