step 1 -> Put the first x-y pair into the equation and you get k = 6-h^2, do the same for the second x-y pair and you get k = 21 - (-3-h)^2. Since k must = k, we can make the following equation, 6-h^2 = 21 - (-3-h)^2. Solving for h, we get h =1. Putting that back into k = 6 - h^2, we get k = 5. So the equation is y = (x-1)^2 + 5
You can check your answer (I did) but putting both x-y pairs into your equation and make sure you get a true statement.
