If 45 children are on 5 buses, you have to make 5 groups of children. Very simply put divide 45 children into 5 groups: 45/5 = 9
Even more simply put,
Make 5 boxes which represent 5 buses.
Then you start putting one child each in each box. You can denote a child by a small circle. Keep putting one child in each of the box till you are done with 45. You will find that in each box you will have 9 circles which is the answer
