Why do we need to find an operating point in the DC analysis of any transistor-based circuits?

Calculating the operating point is the first step in analog circuit analysis. You need to find an operating point to ensure that transistors are operating in saturation and NOT in triode. In addition, many of the formulas of small-signal analysis are derived assuming this to be the case and rely on the parameters derived from calculation of the operating point.
