What do you do when you have two parenthesis for example (1+5)(8-7)=

Don't know how to help my son complete the problem above, please help

For help later in algebra, you can also distribute, multiplying everything in the first set of parentheses by everything in the 2nd.  Let's see if you follow this.
 
1(8) + 1(-7) + 5(8) + 5(-7) = 8 - 7 + 40 -35 = 6.  
 
This is more complicated, but, like I said, will help later in algebra.
