Alana has 4/5 gallons of lemonade. She pours out 1/4. To find the amount of 1/4 you must multiply 1/4 x 4/5. When multiplying fractions you multiply the numerator times the numerator which equals 4 and the denominator times the denominator which equal 20. So 1/4 of 4/5 is 4/20th. If you reduce 4/20th or simplify 4/20th, it becomes 1/5. So Alana poured out 1/5 of her 4/5 lemonade. The remaining lemonade goes in 6 glassed. this means subtracting the 1/5 that she got rid of from 4/5. 4/5-1/5= 3/5. Then we divide the 3/5 by 6 glasses.3/5 divided by 6 glasses. When dividing you must find the reciprocal of the 2nd fraction. The 6 glasses reciprocal would be 1/6th. After finding the reciprocal you must multiply it time the first fraction. 3/5 x 1/6=3/30th which is 1/10 simplified. Each of the 6 glasses contain 1/10th of the lemonade.
