It depends on what concepts or disciplines you plan gaining from that particular focus of work.
When talking AI\deep learning, I stop at "cloud". My focus of work relies on maintaining on premise infrastructure and applications. AI is a fraction of total compute resource in these environments. Applications leveraging AI, at this time, is not commonplace in the small or medium business do to costs\ROI. Knowing where AI\deep learning is being used in the larger scheme of technological development from social aspects however is very interesting and worth studying.
