Depends on the job.
Entry level positions typically require a degree, any degree will do. The hiring person is looking for how you've applied that degree both during study and on your free time. It is not uncommon for specific degrees to never be utilized directly. The building blocks and disciplines you gain from any degree open these revolving doors into complete opposite categories of engineering. This is the same for other lines of work with exception to positions that require specific accreditation or certification for compliance or regulatory reasons.
Interviewers are also looking for the passion behind the switch. Logical order and labeling of redundant processes is something that both would have in common. It may be easier to rephrase the question to find all of the similarities instead of differences.
