How do you say "A story is set in another place"?

Does anyone have an idea of how to translate "This story is set in a small town". I've been looking around but I haven't found a good way to translate "Set in". Thanks again for any help! Cheers, Stephen

“set in” could be translated into “发生”。So the sentence would be 这个故事发生在一个小镇。

Hi Stephen--If you are translating word for word, you can use the term "takes place in..." The story takes place in a small town. Or you can take artistic liberty and say: "The backdrop of this story is the small town of ..."
