Do all square matrices have eigenvectors?

I came across a video lecture in which the professor stated that there may or may not be any eigenvectors for a given linear transformation. And, so far I thought every matrix has eigenvectors. Please clarify.

I the matrix is singular it won't have eigenvectors. Attempt to invert the matrix, if you encounter a divide

by zero . The matrix is singular.

Eigenvectors are very important in many problems, most of the time eigenvalues are not as important
