A "closed case" can be one in criminal court or one in civil, but either way, it means that either the case was dismissed in its entirety, that there was a judgment entered, or the cases settled and dismissed. That doesn't sound like an accurate statement for a civil lawsuit, however, as that would be just a few months for resolution, and many take years even up to five years..
