You would need to find the volume of the can in cubic inches, since most sand is bought in cubic feet.
To find the volume of a cylinder you use the formula: V =π2rh (r = radius and h=height)
Once you find the volume of one can, you can multiply it by 20 to see how many cubic inches of sand is needed.
I looked online and a 50 lb bag of sand is listed as covering 0.5 cubic feet.
