Electrical output for a generator powered forge

I have a 7000 watt generator, and I am trying to use it to power a forge/foundry made of molybdenum wire and a casing that has a temperature resistance of 3000 degrees Fahrenheit. I was told I can't use more than 20amps from the 240 volt outlet or 40amps from the 120 volt outlet or it would damage the generator. Is there a way to use this setup for melting metals like steel? Or have I been trying in vain?
