How to effectively tackle math topics?

I know I need to practice and practice but how can I effectively learn the topics instead of just solving for a specific question in a topic? If that makes sense.

Everyone has a different learning style. Tutors cannot off to you a "magic bullet" that shall maximize your learning. That is something that you must discover.

One place to start is the formula/patterns of the various problems you are studying.
