Well there could be many answers for a question like this. You would first want to start with the equivalent fractions for 1 and 1 1/2.
1=2/2=3/3=4/4=5/5=6/6
1 1/2 =3/2=6/4=9/6
We would not be able to compare a number between 1 and 1 1/2 with the denominators of 6 or 4, because 6/6=1 and 6/4=1 1/2 and the number needs to be between them. So, lets look at having the denominator of 5. If we had the fraction 6/5 this number is both greater than 1 whole, but less than 1 1/2, because as a mixed number it is 1 1/5.
