Is it required to complete the entire grid in question for the math sections????

So, you know how when you are filling out the grid in questions, there are two parts, right? The first part is bubbling in the numbers and the second part is writing your answer above those bubbles. Do the graders make sure that you write your answer( the second part )? Personally, I think not because if they actually did that, then they would have to do that routine for like 2 million sat test booklets or something. Or is it the scanner that checks? hmm If the graders dont check, then its a complete waste of time, and it's like the test takers are trying to make us use up our time, and because of that we would have less time to do the math test. Has anyone ever tried only filling out the bubbles on grid-in questions on an actual SAT test, and if so, did you get deducted, or did nothing happen?
