A man may fire 30 shots at a target. If he hits , he gets 25p. If he misses, he pays in 15p. If he makes a profit of £3.50; how many times did he hit the target?

25(30-y) - 15y = 3.5 lbs = 350 pence, 30-y=hit, y = miss, 30 shots total 1 lb = 100 p

750 -25y -15y = 350

-40y =350-750=-400

y = -400/-40 = 10 misses

x = 30-10= 20 hits

25(20) -15(10) = 500-150 = 350 pence
