In slope intercept form how do you find a line perpendicular to 3x + 2y=6 and passes through the origin?

Kerina's answer is right, but she missed the part about the perpendicular line passing through the origin. To do that, you must express the line without the constant (the + 3 on the end). The equation y= (2/3)x is what you get. It is still perpendicular (the slope is still (2/3), but now you have dropped it down until it intersects the origin.

When you say the slope intercept, do you mean the y-intercept?

If you do, here is how I solve the problem.

 

1) Rearrange the equation to y=mx+b, so you will have 2y= -3x+6
2) Divide by 2 on both sides, you end up with y = (-3/2)x + 3
3) To find the perpendicular line of that equation, you just have to do the negative reciprocal. So you will have y= (2/3)x + 3.
