A garden is 4 feet longer than three times it’s width. If the perimeter of the garden is 64 feet, what is the length? (Hint: Use 3w + 4 and a to represent the length and width.)

3w +4)w = 64

3w^2 +4w -64 = 0

(3w + 16)(w -4) = 0

w = 4 feet = width

64/4 = A/w = Length = 16 feet

3w +4 = 12+4 = 16 feet = Length
