- 太外婆 (taai³ ngoi³ po⁴): This is the most specific term for your great-grandmother on your mother's side (your mother's father's mother). "太" means great, and "外婆" specifically refers to a maternal grandmother.
- 太婆 (taai³ po⁴): This is a more general term for "great-grandmother" and is also widely understood.
- 曾祖母 (jing¹ zou² mou⁵): This is a more formal, standard term found in written Chinese and is also understood in Cantonese, but it is less commonly used in casual, spoken situations.

Native Chinese speaker with deep learning in Chinese
Hi!
I am a tutor who lived in Guangdong for 15 years.
If you are writing a letter or writing essays, I will suggest you use“曾祖母” because it is more professional and more common to use(doesn't matter which part of China they came from). You can of course call her 太外婆 or 婆婆in your daily life. It is also different in each family depends on their traditions.
After all, I suggest you use“曾祖母” to call your great-grandmother.
