First, -5 < 1 + 2x/6. We subtract 1 from both sides for -6 < 2x/6. We next multiply both sides by the deniminator and get -36 < 2x. Dividing by 2, we get -18 < x.
Next, 1 + 2x/6 < 2. We do the same steps and end up with x < 3.
So, we have -18 < x < 3, which tells us x is between -18 and 3, while not including either. Our answer is (-18,3).
