That depends. One class is a proton pump inhibitor (omeprazole, etc) and the other (zantac) is a histamine H2 receptor blocker. It appears that there are more contraindications to the H2 blockers than to the PPI's, but as with all other meds, it will be an individual experience. Also, if it's to be taken daily, the PPI's should be better. Zantac, et.al. are usually taken on an as needed (prn) basis.
