a, How many units of heparin will be administered per hour?

 

b, If the pump were to be programmed in ml/hr, what is the rate to be delivered for the above example.

First, you have to multiply 18 units with 78 kg which is 1404 units of heparin per hr. This answer your first question. Then, you divide 1404 units to 25000 units which equals 0.05616 and this multiplies with 500 ml which equals 28 ml/hr.
