It took Barry 5 hours to travel to NY. He travelled by bus and plane for a total distance of 1320km. If the bus averaged 40km/h and the plane averaged 600km/h, how long did Barry spend on the plane and on the bus?

speed times time = distance

40b + 600(6-b) = 1320

40b -600b = 1320 -3600

p = 6 - 4 1/14 = 1 13/14 hours on the plane
