D by long division
Or you could do the Remainder Theorem x-3=0 add 3 to both sides to get x=3
Substitute 3 in all the x's
Remainder 32-2(3)-5= -2
The only answer with a Remainder of -2/x-3 is D

I suspect you meant to write (x^2-2x-5)/(x-3) = [(x-3)(x+1) -2]/(x-3) = x+1 - 2/(x-3)
You can always plug in a value for x and see which choice(s) give the same result.
