Design Problem for Amplitude Modulation

We want to design a point to point communication system for voice data transmission. The designer has

specified use of AM scheme with conservative bandwidth. The carrier frequency of operation is decided to be

1.2 MHz. For demodulation, the method used must be coherent. Assuming the presence of AWGN, what

should be the optimum design.

The "optimum" modulation choice depends on what your dominating constraint is. If circuit complexity is the main restriction, DSB (Double Side Band) is a relatively simple coherent scheme. If bandwidth is the main limitation, the SSB (Singe Side Band) is more efficient, but slightly more complex to implement.
