Your goal is to get x isolated on one side. To do that, we need to take a few steps to collapse the terms:
3(-x-4)=2x +3(x-5)
Get rid of the parenthesis by distributing the numbers outside each parenthesis
-3x-12=2x+3x-15
Add -5x to both sides
-8x-12=-15
Add 12 to both sides
-8x=-3
Divide by -8
x =3/8
Check your answer by plugging in 3/8 for x in the original equation. You'll see that each side will produce the same number, which let's you know you got the right answer!
