Hi Shaun. I answered another one of your questions about the dump truck. I hope it was helpful.
As before, I won't give you the full answer because I think this is a homework assignment. Tell ya what, I'll show you a trick for how to figure this one out. Do you think they'd give you a problem where there are 19.5 Boys for example? Probably not. The answer will involve whole people :)
So you can guess that since they gave you 2/5 Girls, that the number of girls will be a multiple of 5, and also the number of boys will be a multiple of 4.
So let me give you an example. We know there can't be 5,10, or 15 girls. Why? Well let's say there are 15 girls. That would make 73 boys. You can't divide 73 boys by 4 and get a full number!
What about 20? Well if there are 20 girls, then there are 68 boys. 68 can be divided by 4. So now you end up with 17 boys, and 8 girls. But that only adds up to 25 kids with glasses.
Find another number of girls (which is a multiple of 5) that also allows for a number of buys that is a multiple of 4. Then, multiply the boys by 1/4 and the girls by 2/5. Add those numbers up, and see if it works.
This isn't the only way to solve the problem. I just hope that if you're stuck it gives you another way to look at it and you might just figure it out.
Good luck Shaun! With enough time you can figure this one out.
