How to evaluate an expression using the properties of numbers.

My homework says to evaluate the expression,

7 * 1/7 + 6(15/3-5)

And to name the property used I each step. The first step is obviously to distribute, but I don’t understand the next steps. Can someone help me on this?

Given: 7*1/7 + 6(15/3-5)

Order of operations: PEMDAS says do parentheses first, then exponents, then multiplication or division, then addition or subtraction last. What you must also know is that you must complete the order from left to right in each step.

1. Inside the parentheses 15/3 = 5, Division
2. Inside the parentheses 5 - 5 = 0 , Subtraction
3. To the far left: 7 * 1 = 7, Multiplication
4. 7/7 = 1, Division
5. 6*0 = 0 (the zero came from step 2), Multiplication
6. 1 + 0 = 1, Addition
