H.S. Chemistry + Algebra is fun!
Given: 7*1/7 + 6(15/3-5)
Order of operations: PEMDAS says do parentheses first, then exponents, then multiplication or division, then addition or subtraction last. What you must also know is that you must complete the order from left to right in each step.
- Inside the parentheses 15/3 = 5, Division
- Inside the parentheses 5 - 5 = 0 , Subtraction
- To the far left: 7 * 1 = 7, Multiplication
- 7/7 = 1, Division
- 6*0 = 0 (the zero came from step 2), Multiplication
- 1 + 0 = 1, Addition
