I bought 4 hamburgers and three fries for $14.25 the next day I bought 3 burgers and 5 fries for $15.50 . Find the cost of each hamburger and fry

Let H = cost of hamburgers and F = cost of fries.

First day: 4H + 3F = 14.25

Second day: 3H + 5F = 15.50

First off, multiply each equation by 100 to remove the decimals.

400H + 300F = 1425

300H + 500F = 1550

Now multiply the first equation by 3 and the second equation by 4

1200H + 900F = 4275

1200H + 2000F = 6200

Subtract the first equation from the 2nd

1100F = 1975

F = 1.75

Use this answer and either of the very first 2 equations to get H.
