that's basically true same slope=parallel
Unless they are one and the same identical line. Then it's a matter of convention Not to describe itself as parallel to itself
two lines with different slopes are Not parallel
two lines that are Not parallel have different slopes (except possibly for the degenerate case of two identical lines)
