Show me a method of calculation of square roots please.

In traditional long division only so many remainders may drop down which forces rationals to repeat or terminate. Can you show me a method for calculation of square roots that is different  showing that it is possible for the decimal form of an irrational like the square root of 2 never to repeat periodically?

Can I please have the Sesame Street version , please. I have math phobia. My mind shuts down even at the question.

I’m a square root ultra beginner. I don’t even know what it means. You lost me at the very beginning. Is there any way to teach me from before step 1.
