Okay, so this is a little bit complicated.
Let's call:
t = the amount of time he rode before the flat tire
so then,( 6.5 - t ) is the amount of time he walked the bike home
Since distance = rate x time, the distance he rode into the country must equal the distance he walked
the bike home.
10t = 3(6.5 - t)
10t = 19.5 - 3t
13t = 19.5
t = 1.5
So, he rode his bike 10mph x 1.5hrs = 15 miles into the country
