Since "more than" means add, we know that "five more than" means 5+...
"The product of three and a number squared" would be multiplying 3 and "a number squared"
"A number squared" can be written as x^2
So multiplying 3 and this x^2 gives 3x^2
Finally, adding five we get: 5+3x^2
