For inverse of functions it easiest to write in "normal" notation (instead of function notation)

 

So lets rewrite f(x)=x²  as y=x² 

 To find the inverse of the function, you swap the x and y

 

x=y²

 

and finally, solve for y

 

taking the square root of both sides,

±√x=y
