Hello Aniyah,
As you probably know, two angles are supplementary when they add up to 180 degrees. So, the first thing we want to do is to create expressions to represent both of these angles, okay?
First angle = x
The other angle = 6x + 12
Now, we can add these two expressions together and make them equal to 180 degrees, right?
Therefore:
x + 6x + 12 = 180
7x + 12 = 180
7x = 168
x = 24
Therefore, the first angle is 24 degrees.
6(24) + 12 =
144 + 12 = 156
Therefore:
First < = 24
Second < = 156
Finally, we need to check our work by adding both angles to determine that they do, in fact, equal 180 degrees, okay?
156 + 24 = 180
180 = 180
The solution checks and is therefore valid. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to me or any tutor. Best!
