Let's start with all the information we know. Remember that the perimeter is the sum of all the sides:

p = 2w + 2l = 32

l = 3w


Now we can solve by substitution

2w + 2l = 32

2w + 2(3w) = 32

2w + 6w = 32

8w = 32

w = 4


Since we know w=4, we can find the length l = 3w = 3 x 4 = 12


The width is 4 m and the length is 12 m.
