I need help on Algebra

The volume of a gas in a container at a constant temperature varies inversely as the pressure. The volume is 22 cubic centimeters at a pressure of 8 pounds use a proportion to find the pressure when the volume is 55 cubic centimeters

The pressure units in the question are not correct. Pressure has units of force per area, A pound is a unit of force, not pressure. Anyway, use the relation


P1 V1 = P2 V2


P2 = P1 V1 / V2


Plug in P1, V1, and V2 in the correct units and get P2.
