1. The formula for a rectangle's area is A = l*h (or l*w, depending if you want to think in height or width).
We have the area: 7,500 ft2, so what needs to happen is for you to decide on your dependent and independent variables:
7,500 ft2 / l = w
Put in a value for l and divide 7500 by it, and you will get a corresponding width.
Your table will look something like this:
Possible 7,500 ft2
Lot Dimensions
-----------------
l | w |

Repeat until you're satisfied with the number of possibilities for your chart. Don't forget to mark your units (ft).
2. This works out in a similar fashion, only you're looking at miles per hour: We have a distance (500 miles), and you get to decide how long it takes to travel that length:
x miles * y = 500 miles
So, for example, if Deana traveled 1 hour, we'd have:
x miles * 1 hour = 500 miles
x miles = 500 1 hour, or 500 mph
If Deana too two hours:
x miles * 2 hours= 500 miles
Isolate the x by dividing both sides by 2:
x miles = 250 mils / hr
And so on.
Your chart will look a bit like:
Charting Deana's Speed
and Time for 500 miles:
s | mph |

Im not understanding 2. Do I keep the variable x or do I make it a number. If I make it a number it doesn't equal 500. 20 miles x 1 hour = 500 miles....doesn't work. What would equal my speed and mph now I'm confused Please help again
