there are 2 numbers whose sum is 50. Three times the first is 5 more than twice the second. What is the smaller number?

It is a word problem that is confusing me and my friends and we dont understand it. Please help thanks.

Sorry about my poor typing (answers remain the same) but to clarify:
"No solve" is really Now solve - in the middle of the page, and
3 is really x ( so x+y=50) - near the bottom of the page.
