Amazon Web Services vs Google App Engine?

I am thinking of building a website and am not sure whether to use Amazon Web Services or Google App Engine. How should I think about the tradeoffs?

Google and Amazon offer very similar cloud services for big scale web applications. Currently the cost of renting Amazon cloud is cheaper than Google. However Google offers a more integrated access to it's own dedicated API's and services. You don't need any of these cloud providers unless you want to create a huge web application like Airbnb. If you just want to start your first web project, you can start it on any web host provider like Godaddy.
