Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
1 - 2a - 1/4a^2 +4a + 1 = 2a/2a + 1
(assuming the largest space is where the equal sign should be, instead of a negative sign)
there's also some ambiguity about the denominators, whether they're as written or
were they intended to be 1/4a^2 or 1/(4a^2 +1) or 2a/2a or 2a/(2a+1)
If you do the 1st version then
it simplifies to
2+2a - 1/4a^2 = 2
2a = 1/4a^2
8a^3 = 1
a^3 = 1/8
a = 1/2. that might be right.
Or if the 2nd one is right with ( ) parentheses
then
1-2a -1/(4a^2+4a) + 4a +1 = 2a/(2a+1)
2+2a - 1/(4a)(a+1) = 2a/(2a+1)
eliminate the fractions by multiplying both sides by 4a(a+1)(2a+1)
8a(a+1)(2a+1) + 8(a+1)(2a+1) -(2a+1) = 8a^2(a+1)
which looks like a messy 4th degree equation.
I'd go with the 1st version" a= 1/2
