A wire of length 5/8 m has been broken in two pieces such that lenght of one piece is 1/4 m find the length of other piece

Total length is 5/8 m

We break into two pieces of 1/4 m and x m

 

1/4 + x = 5/8

x = 5/8 - 1/4

x = 5/8 - 2/8

x = 3/8

 

The other piece is 3/8 m in length

 

check:  1/4 + 3/8 = 2/8 + 3/8 = 5/8
