y + 1 = -(1/8)x - (11/8)

 

Subtract 1 from both sides:

 

y = (-1/8)x - (11/8) - (8/8)

 

y = (-1/8)x - (19/8)

 

The slop is then -1/8 and the intercept is -19/8.

What is BR?

There are many ways you can do this problem.  This is one one. 

 

y+1 = (-1/8)(x+ 11)              Using the distributive property.

y+1= (-1/8)x -11/8                Suntracting 1 from both sides

   -1               -1                    Remember 1 as a fraction is 8/8

    Y=   (-1/8)x-19/8               Since (-11/8)-(8/11)= -19/8
